About eon

This guild was formed abit over 2 years ago right after TBC hit, by a couple of individuals that had raided a lot in vanilla wow, which basicly was the only way to raid then. We knew a lot about game mechanics and had gotten a little taste of guild management. We had 'only' been members in vanilla ourselves but felt we knew how a guild should be run and by that also how a guild should not be run. Alot of our expertise can be directly linked to making a good and social community, which is the core of any guild.

We seek to progress while we live our regular lives. Basicly, you`re suppose to be able to hold a job, visit family, go out with friends and still be able to enjoy some quality raiding. It`s important to have other impulses than wow, and I like to think we encourage them aswell.

We raid 3 times a week, 3 hours a night. No more. Even if we`re super close to downing a boss and 15 minutes might be enough to pull it off we still say good night at 23.00. The boss will be there tomorrow or next reset even, it`s no big deal. This might come of as laidback, but it really isn't, we love to progress. But we know when you push people to much they get tired and it all ends up becoming a chore. It`s supposed to be fun, it`s a game.

Speaking of fun, the guild consists of alot of different people and fun can be something that`s very subjective. Some like to be challenged constantly and can do nothing but wiping for hours a week. Others might like to farm mounts, and some love to use the Auction House Wall-Street style. But deep down we all care about progress, we just won`t loose ourselves in the process. For example, we drop a hardmode unless we think we have the setup for it, banging your head at something that is not doable is hardly very motivating. I guess it all boils down to being realistic and adjusting expectations thereafter.

We have a very nice guild management website, which is being developed by one of our officers, Farris. It really is a slick system and it`s as being updated as I`m writing this. We use DKP, but it`s slightly different from other DKP system. Your DKP score is first and foremost hidden, we don`t want you to speculate too much with your gear upgrades. The system is based upon wishlists, so you add the items you want to that list and when an item drops the person with the most DKP wins, simple. Your DKP is calculated by attendance, but it`s not just X amount of raids, it counts how many raids you missed, what has been your attendance percentage the last months, how much loot have you gotten and how long it is since you last got loot. Another important aspect with the system is that we want to prevent hogging of DKP, so when you get an item there`s sort of an percentage based deduction of your dkp. Hence new members should be on par DKP wise with old members pretty fast as long as they keep their attendance.
